Commencement
On Friday, 25th May, we held our Commencement Ceremony at the grand location of the Petersburg Hotel. Grade 12 students celebrated the official award of their High School Diplomas with speeches and presentations in a wonderful setting overlooking the Rhine.
Guest speaker this year was Bill Mockridge known to many as "Springmaus" founder has since become a familiar figure himself in many a German living room. Since 1991 he's been playing Erich Schiller, Mother Beimer's husband on the WDR evergreen soap "Lindenstrasse". He entertained the students, parents, teachers and guests with words of wisdom wrapped up in very humourous anecdotes.
The night after Commencement is traditionally a time for the Grade 11 students to honour their departing Grade 12 collegues with prom night. This is a chance to dress up ... and let your hair down! The Grade 11 students spend all year raising funds to support the wonderful ball, which they also attend!
Students in grade 10 are entitled to attend the Prom if they are the invited guest of a grade 11/12 student.
