Principals
Diane Lewthwaite - Secondary School
Diane Lewthwaite is a New Zealander and has been in international education for over 17 years.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Christchurch, New Zealand) and a Master of Arts in Educational Management (Bath, Great Britain). A great believer in the philosophy underpinning the International Baccalaureate programmes before coming to Bonn International School (BIS) as Secondary Principal, Diane was Vice Principal: Academics at the New International School of Thailand in Bangkok.
In her teaching career Diane has taught a range of subjects including Economics, Humanities, Theory of Knowledge, Accounting and Social Studies. She is also a trained workshop leader for the Middle Years Programme. In her spare time she enjoys reading and worries when she has less than six books waiting to be read.
Simon Davidson - Primary School
Simon Davidson joined BIS in 2004, having been the Founding Director of small international school in Como, Italy where he had worked as a class teacher, running the school, organising staffing, professional development and growing enrolment from an initial group of a few students to the current 65. Prior to working in Italy, Simon spent four years as a teacher and coordinator at the International School of Zurich. In this role, Simon was able to be in one of the leading schools in the implementation of the PYP. Before moving to Switzerland Simon taught in a number of different primary schools in his home country of Scotland.
Educated at Edinburgh University, with a BSc (Hons.) in Mathematics Simon exemplifies the concept of 'lifelong learner' having pursued further qualifications including a MEd in 1999, and more recently workin on his EdD doctorate work in education.
Simon is a passionate educator, a keen linguist speaking German, Italian, French and some Spanish and a talented musician.
